There is only one reason for shrinkage cavity and porosity of die castings, which is the inevitable phase transformation shrinkage when the liquid phase changes to the solid phase after the metal melt is filled. Because the solidification characteristic of die castings is cooling from outside to inside, when the casting wall thickness is large, the problem of hole shrinkage and looseness will inevitably occur inside. Therefore, for die castings, especially for thick die castings, the problem of hole shrinkage and looseness is inevitable and cannot be solved.
